The randomized trial compared replacing prandial insulin with once-weekly semaglutide in type 2 diabetes patients on multiple daily insulin injections (MDI). After 26 weeks, 90% of the semaglutide group maintained HbA1c ≤7.5%, compared to 75% in the MDI group. Semaglutide significantly reduced HbA1c by −0.5%, body weight by −8.9 kg, and insulin dose by 56%, with 45% of patients losing >10% body weight. Hypoglycemia rates were similar, and participant satisfaction was higher with semaglutide. The results suggest semaglutide is effective in improving diabetes control and reducing treatment burden.
