This post hoc analysis pooled data from five STEP trials to evaluate changes in antihypertensive and lipid-lowering treatments in participants treated with semaglutide 2.4 mg versus placebo. Results showed a higher proportion of participants in the semaglutide group experienced reductions in treatment intensity, while fewer required treatment intensification compared to placebo. Semaglutide treatment also led to greater weight loss, highlighting its role in reducing the need for additional antihypertensive or lipid-lowering interventions in people with overweight or obesity.
