A study investigating the association between serum asprosin concentrations and diabetes mellitus-induced erectile dysfunction (DMED) reveals significant findings. 90 male patients with type 2 diabetes were analyzed, with 45 exhibiting DMED and 45 without erectile dysfunction. Results indicate higher serum asprosin levels in type 2 diabetes patients compared to healthy controls. Furthermore, the DMED group exhibited significantly elevated serum asprosin levels compared to those without erectile dysfunction. Asprosin emerged as an independent risk factor for erectile dysfunction even after adjusting for traditional risk factors. The study also found a strong correlation between asprosin and oxidative stress markers, including a negative correlation with superoxide dismutase (SOD) and a positive correlation with malondialdehyde (MDA).
