A study revealed significant associations between serum tumour markers and clinical outcomes in patients with appendiceal adenocarcinoma. The findings showed that elevated levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9), and cancer antigen 125 (CA125) were linked to worse 5-year survival rates. Notably, patients with highly elevated levels of these tumour markers experienced markedly poorer survival outcomes. The findings suggest that these biomarkers should be routinely assessed in patients diagnosed with appendiceal adenocarcinoma to aid in prognosis and treatment decisions.
