Sex Differences in Long-Term Outcomes of Hip Arthroscopy

This cohort study compared 10-year patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and survivorship of female and male patients undergoing hip arthroscopic surgery for femoroacetabular impingement syndrome. Among 375 hips (249 female, 126 male), both groups exhibited significant improvements in PROs and high patient satisfaction. Despite higher rates of secondary arthroscopy in females, they reported greater improvement in PROs and higher satisfaction scores (mean 9.0 vs. 8.4; P = .003). Survivorship rates were similar (80.3% female vs. 72.2% male; P = .076). Overall, both sexes achieved comparable functional outcomes at 10 years.
