Shared and differing inflammatory blood proteins in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa and psoriasis

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) and psoriasis are inflammatory skin diseases that greatly negatively impact patients’ lives and affect about 2% of the population worldwide. This study, from the USA, set out to look at how multiple blood proteins related to various biological processes change as a result of these two diseases. The study findings present the similarities and differences in blood protein levels in patients with HS and patients with psoriasis and may help to guide the use of specific psoriasis treatments in patients with HS, as well as the development of new therapies, which are needed for patients with moderate‐to‐severe HS.
