Sialendoscopy Findings Associated with Positive Minor Salivary Gland Biopsy

A study examined sialendoscopy findings in minor salivary gland biopsies of patients evaluated for Sjögren's syndrome. The study, involving 43 patients, revealed that biopsy-positive patients required more frequent dilation at the hilum and distal duct than their biopsy-negative counterparts. Surprisingly, the groups had no significant differences in scarring, stenosis severity, mucus, webs, or dilations. These findings challenge the notion of distinct sialendoscopy markers for biopsy-positive cases, suggesting that distal stenosis may be a potential indicator.
