This study investigated the management strategies for individuals with chronic rhinosinusitis and asthma (CRSwA). The study used a systematic review of 5,903 articles and found 70 articles suitable for full-text analysis. After applying exclusion criteria, 53 articles were used in the qualitative synthesis. The results showed that there is strong evidence for the benefit of oral and topical medications in improving sinonasal outcomes for individuals with CRSwA. There is moderate to strong evidence that endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) improves both sinonasal and asthma-specific quality of life. Biologic medications also showed strong improvement in both subjective and objective sinonasal and asthma outcomes. The conclusion of the study suggests that the treatment for individuals with CRSwA should start with traditional non-biologic medications, and escalate to ESS and biologics as needed. Optimal treatment may require concurrent management of both CRSwA and asthma.
