This prospective, randomized controlled trial aimed to compare the success and survival rates of metal-ceramic crowns and composite resin restorations applied in root-filled teeth with a glass fiber post. Seventy-five post-retained restorations (34 metal-ceramic crowns and 41 composite restorations) in 62 patients were analyzed. The cumulative success rate at 8 years was 85.0% for crowns and 43.2% for composite resins, while the survival rate was 93.8% for crowns and 97.6% for composite resins. Metal-ceramic crowns demonstrated a higher success rate, although survival rates were similar, with composite restorations requiring more repairs.

An experimental triple antibiotic paste containing nitrofurantoin, ciprofloxacin, and metronidazole showed better cytocompatibility than conventional Hoshino antibiotic pastes and calcium hydroxide in human dental pulp stem cells. The paste maintained about 75% metabolic activity and better preserved cell viability, supporting further investigation as a medicament for regenerative endodontic procedures.

As a single-arm study, the findings are descriptive and require controlled confirmation.

The findings support phenotype-informed risk assessment and personalized prevention and treatment.
