ONCOLOGY

A phase 1 study investigated the safety and efficacy of a single dose of lutetium-177 [177Lu]-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-617 followed by maintenance pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. The study included three schedules in the first part, with schedule 1 selected as the recommended phase 2 schedule. In the second part, 56% of patients had a confirmed objective response. The treatment was generally well-tolerated, with few grade 3 or worse adverse events. The study suggests encouraging preliminary activity and safety of the combination.

Treatment-related infections and life-threatening adverse events were also less frequent, although neurotoxic events were more common with blinatumomab.
