Single‐Port Robotic Removal of a Submucosal Foreign Body in the Distal Hypopharynx

A 55-year-old woman with cervical stenosis underwent complicated C5-C7 anterior cervical discectomy and fusion surgery, resulting in hardware failure and the need for removal. A retained screw caused discomfort and dysphagia, prompting a transoral attempt at removal. A single-port surgical robot successfully extracted the foreign body from the distal hypopharynx, expanding access to the inferior hypopharynx. This case highlights the efficacy of the robotic procedure in removing the hardware and improving patient outcomes.
