
The study aimed to evaluate the use of a hydroxyapatite-based, sugar-cross-linked collagen sponge called OSSIX™ Bone for transcrestal sinus floor augmentation (t-SFA). Twenty-four patients with the edentulous posterior maxilla and sufficient residual bone height underwent t-SFA with OSSIX™ Bone as the grafting material. The study assessed factors such as implant stability, bone height and volume changes, graft volume, and health-related quality of life outcomes. The results showed positive outcomes, including new bone formation with long-term stability and minimal chewing interference. The study suggests that OSSIX™ Bone is a viable material for sinus floor augmentation, and t-SFA is a less invasive and less painful approach.
