This cross-sectional human study compared skin physiology, inflammatory markers in the stratum corneum, and visible aging between adults with atopic dermatitis (AD) and healthy controls. Patients with AD exhibited darker skin tone, impaired barrier function, increased inflammatory cytokines, and older visible age. Frequent skincare habits, including moisturizing and sunscreen use, mitigated these changes, restoring skin parameters and visible aging scores to levels comparable with healthy individuals.
