Sleep-Disordered Breathing May Hinder Cognitive Recovery Post-Stroke

Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) is linked to cognitive deficits, but its treatment impact post-stroke remains unclear. A study on 131 stroke patients found untreated SDB was associated with poor visual memory recovery. While intention-to-treat ASV therapy showed no significant cognitive benefits, compliant ASV users showed improved visual memory and flexibility. Findings highlight SDB’s role in post-stroke cognition.
