The study assessed sleep quality in 132 head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients before oncological treatment. About 50% reported poor sleep, with insomnia (19%), excessive daytime sleepiness (15%), and apnea risk (54%). Pain, anxiety, and depression were significantly linked to sleep disturbances, while tumor characteristics and lifestyle factors were not. Addressing psychological distress and pain may improve sleep outcomes in HNSCC patients.
