Sleep Quality and Mental Health in Syrian Medical Residents

This cross-sectional study of 2071 Syrian medical residents reveals a high prevalence of poor sleep quality (67.7%), depressive symptoms (46%), and anxiety symptoms (42.2%). Significant variations were found between hospitals, with Damascus and Hama General Hospitals showing higher incidences. Females exhibited higher rates of depression and anxiety. The findings highlight the need for targeted interventions, such as work-hour limits, to improve mental health and professional well-being among medical residents.
