A new study finds people with Parkinson's disease often experience poor sleep and excessive daytime sleepiness. Compared to healthy individuals, Parkinson's patients scored significantly worse on sleep quality measures. Nearly two-thirds had trouble sleeping, and one in five felt excessively sleepy during the day. Notably, worse sleep quality was linked to disease severity, medication use, and depression. The study highlights the importance of addressing sleep problems in Parkinson's patients to improve their overall well-being and daily functioning.
