The study introduces a validated fMRI protocol to measure real-time spinal cord activity linked to bladder function. Twenty healthy adults underwent bladder-filling and reflex tasks during imaging. Activation was detected in 15 participants, particularly across T10–S5 segments, involving sympathetic, parasympathetic, and somatic regions. Preliminary sex-based differences emerged. This novel method precisely examines spinal pathways regulating lower urinary tract function.
