This study investigates the impact of statin use on advanced fibrosis risk in primary care patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Analyzing data from 1238 patients, the research shows that statin prescriptions, especially at moderate and high intensities, are associated with a reduced risk of progressing to a high-risk FIB-4 score (≥2.67). This suggests a protective effect of statins against fibrosis progression.
