The study assesses whether stem augmentation reduces tibial implant loosening in patients with short-keeled prostheses. Among 932 patients, 212 were at high risk due to osteoporosis or high BMI. In the high-risk group, stemmed implants had a significantly lower loosening rate (0.99% vs. 2.06% in nonstemmed). Multivariate analysis identified osteoporosis, high BMI, and smoking as risk factors for loosening. The stemmed implant showed a protective effect, particularly in high-risk patients.
