A study revealed patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) who received ticagrelor monotherapy. The research investigated the safety and efficacy of discontinuing aspirin within one month after implanting a drug-eluting stent (DES). The study, involving 2,850 ACS patients, found that ticagrelor monotherapy was non-inferior and even superior to the standard 12-month dual antiplatelet therapy, primarily due to a significant reduction in major bleeding events. The findings suggest a shorter regimen may be safe and effective for ACS patients with DES implantations.
