Study Examines Effects of Steroids on Nasal Healing After Surgery

In a study using nasal cells from CRSwNP patients, wound healing was delayed by ~3 hours with topical budesonide, a corticosteroid, compared to untreated controls. However, all wounds closed within 19 hours, and barrier function recovered similarly in both groups. Researchers suggest topical steroids may be safely used 24 hours post-surgery.
