Study Finds Online Tool Helps Analyze Practitioners' Interpretation of Cardiotocography Data During Labor

A study assessed the accuracy of predicting fetal hypoxia by healthcare providers using cardiotocography signals and clinical variables during labor. A cross-sectional online survey involved 120 obstetric healthcare providers from various countries. They predicted fetal outcomes based on 100 cases, including 50 with fetal hypoxia, using a binary criterion of pH <7.15. Results showed a success rate of 0.58, sensitivity of 0.58, and specificity of 0.63. Agreement among practitioners was good, but accuracy remained poor, especially for cases with pH between 7.05 and 7.20.
