The study examined the effectiveness of self-monitoring techniques, specifically an aphasia-friendly logbook and timer, to enhance adherence to home practice programs for individuals with aphasia. Six participants, post-stroke and interested in reading, initially received training on a mobile reading application without self-monitoring supports. Following the introduction of self-monitoring, three participants demonstrated increased practice minutes and adherence. The logbook was identified as particularly helpful, while weekly technology check-ins were deemed less beneficial. Results indicate that self-monitoring can improve home practice engagement for some individuals with aphasia, warranting further research with a larger, diverse sample.
