Study Finds Tract Location Not a Significant Factor in Endoscopic Combined Intrarenal Surgery Outcomes

A recent retrospective analysis of 1000 patients undergoing Endoscopic Combined Intrarenal Surgery (ECIRS) across three hospitals from 2015 to 2021 revealed that the location of the surgical tract (upper, middle, or lower calyx) did not significantly impact stone-free rates (SFR). While patient characteristics and surgical durations varied among groups, the study concludes that observing the lower calyx and careful tract placement are crucial for improving SFR. The findings highlight the importance of nuanced surgical considerations for optimal outcomes in ECIRS procedures.
