Study Highlights Efficacy of AMIC for Treating Osteochondral Lesions of the Talus

The study presents a comprehensive analysis of autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis (AMIC) for treating osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT). Analyzing 15 studies with mid-to-long-term follow-ups, it evaluates AMIC's efficacy in pain relief (Visual Analog Scale), functional outcomes (AOFAS ankle-hindfoot, Tegner scores), and mobility enhancement. Despite an 11% surgical failure rate and reported complications, AMIC shows promise influenced by patient age, lesion size, and implant selection, affirming its viability as a safe and effective treatment option for OLT.
