A study identified factors contributing to retinal detachment (RD) following prophylactic vitrectomy in acute retinal necrosis (ARN) syndrome cases. The retrospective analysis covered patients diagnosed with ARN who underwent prophylactic vitrectomy from October 2019 to September 2023. Among 14 cases reviewed, RD occurred in 4 patients (28.57%). RD onset often coincided with silicone oil's presence or removal, indicating proliferative vitreoretinopathy involvement. Secondary vitreous interventions successfully reattached the retina but yielded no significant visual improvement postoperatively.
