The study explores the role of microRNA (miR-96-5p) in intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD), a key factor in low back pain. Using an in vitro model with human nucleus pulposus cells, the study reveals that miR-96-5p influences IDD progression by modulating the PPARγ/NF-κB pathway. Upregulation of PPARγ demonstrates inhibitory effects on inflammation, apoptosis, and ECM degradation. The findings suggest miR-96-5p is a promising clinical target for IDD treatment.
