Study Links Cognitive Testing and Brain Structure Analysis to Enhance Alzheimer's Diagnosis

A recent study has integrated a process-based approach with brain structure analysis to investigate its discriminatory capacity and underlying mechanisms. The study involved 37 individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), 35 with Alzheimer's Disease (AD), and 38 healthy controls (HC). Key findings include the efficacy of A', B "D, and LBCser in distinguishing MCI and AD, with combined AVLT-Immediately Recall (AVLT-IR) and LBCser enhancing diagnostic accuracy for MCI. Moreover, positive associations were noted between A', B "D, and GMV in the hippocampus and temporal lobe among MCI patients. This study underscores the process approach as a promising cognitive biomarker for early detection of MCI and AD.
