A study assessed nutritional intake in male dental patients with and without periodontal disease. It compared macronutrients, fiber, vitamins, and minerals and correlated them with periodontal health. Significant associations were found: lower cholesterol and iodine intake linked to periodontitis, while higher saturated fat, monounsaturated fat, and folic acid intake associated with it. Balancing fat, iodine, calcium, and cholesterol intake may aid in periodontitis control, while avoiding excess energy and certain fats is crucial.
