Study Reveals Association Between Preeclampsia and Coagulation Parameters in Pregnant Women

A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to investigate the correlation between prothrombin time (PT), thrombin time (TT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), and preeclampsia (PE). Following PRISMA guidelines, relevant articles were analysed from July 26, 2013, to July 26, 2023. Utilising Stata version 14.0, a random-effects model estimated the pooled standardised mean difference (SMD) with 95% CIs. Results from 30 articles (involving 5,964 individuals) indicated a significant increase in PT and APTT levels among PE patients compared to normotensive pregnant mothers, suggesting their potential as clinical indicators for assessing PE. However, further longitudinal studies are warranted for comprehensive evaluation.
