A recent cross-sectional study conducted on 22,004 participants from the China Multi-Ethnic Cohort (CMEC) sheds light on the connection between sleep and comorbid depressive and anxiety symptoms (CDAS). The study, utilizing the Chinese version of Patient Health Questionnaire-2 and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-2, discovered that 2.8% of participants reported CDAS. Notably, insufficient sleep duration (< 7 hr) showed a significant association with CDAS, particularly in females and young to middle-aged adults. The study suggests a complex interplay between sleep patterns and mental health in the Chinese population.
