
A recent retrospective cohort study analyzed data from 2010 to 2017 in the Nationwide Readmissions Database and identified risk factors for 30-day postoperative readmission in patients undergoing Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) for Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OPSCC). The study, which encompassed 5,544 patients, revealed an overall readmission rate of 17.5%, with a decline over the study period. Factors influencing readmission included gender, congestive heart failure, and undergoing concurrent selective neck dissection. Notably, concurrent neck dissection appeared to reduce the risk of readmission. This research provides insights for informed decision-making, quality improvement, and enhanced patient counseling.
