A recent study investigated the impact of knee valgus deformity on complications following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Analyzing data from 8917 TKA patients, including 412 with valgus deformity, the study found that valgus knees had a significantly higher incidence of symptomatic venous thromboembolism (VTE) and prosthesis revision compared to varus knees. Additionally, valgus deformity was associated with longer operation times and hospital stays. These findings underscore the importance of considering deformity type in TKA planning to mitigate associated risks effectively.
