A study investigated risk factors and effects of poststroke pneumonia (PSP) on mortality and functional outcomes in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients following endovascular thrombectomy (EVT). Among 639 patients, 29.58% developed PSP. Factors associated with PSP included chronic heart failure history, higher creatinine levels, prethrombectomy reperfusion, and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale at 24 hours. PSP correlated with poorer 90-day functional outcomes. Early 2-week mortality was lower in PSP patients. The study highlights the significance of PSP in AIS patients undergoing EVT and identifies potential predictive factors for its occurrence and impact on outcomes.

Most recommendations remain conditional because evidence certainty is low or very low in several clinical areas.

UROLOGY

A nationwide Colombian study identified 4,608 healthcare encounters related to childhood interstitial and diffuse lung disease (chILD) from 2016–2024.
