A tudy evaluated the efficacy of antiviral treatment and risk factors for severe COVID-19 in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) during the Omicron subvariant-dominant period. Among 65 KTRs diagnosed with COVID-19, 86% received oral molnupiravir and 87% received intravenous remdesivir showed improvement. Comparing mild/moderate and severe/critical cases revealed that the latter had higher median age, prevalence of diabetes, and overweight/obesity, along with a longer time from symptom onset to initial antiviral therapy. Multivariate analysis identified delayed antiviral treatment as an independent risk factor for severe COVID-19. These findings underscore the importance of early antiviral intervention in preventing severe outcomes in KTRs with COVID-19.
