The study examined the correlation between serum phosphate levels and diabetic retinopathy (DR) in individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The study, comprising 1657 hospitalized T2DM patients from 2017 to 2019, categorized participants into quartiles based on their serum phosphate levels (Q1–Q4). Results indicated a rise in DR prevalence across these quartiles. Logistic regression, adjusting for gender, age, BMI, and diabetes duration, revealed elevated serum phosphate levels as an independent risk factor for DR. This underscores the significant association between elevated serum phosphate levels and DR in hospitalized T2DM patients.

Most recommendations remain conditional because evidence certainty is low or very low in several clinical areas.

A nationwide Colombian study identified 4,608 healthcare encounters related to childhood interstitial and diffuse lung disease (chILD) from 2016–2024. Average annual prevalence was 3.32 per 100,000 children, highest among infants and with a secondary rise during adolescence. Reported cases increased annually (IRR 1.022), while declining markedly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
