A recent study examined the long-term prognosis of 1,149 asymptomatic patients with Brugada pattern ECG (BrECG). The patients were followed for 2 to 22 years. Of these patients, 539 exhibited spontaneous type-1 BrECG, and 610 had drug-induced type-1 BrECG. The study found that arrhythmic events occurred in 1.5% of the asymptomatic population, with a higher rate in patients with spontaneous type-1 BrECG (0.4% per year) compared to drug-induced type-1 BrECG (0.03% per year). Electrophysiologic studies (EPS) were used to identify higher-risk patients, and ongoing monitoring is recommended for early detection.
