A study evaluated nutritional knowledge, myths, and practices among women during pregnancy and lactation. The study analysed 468 pregnant females and found the mean knowledge score was 5, and the mean holding myths score was 3. More than 70% correctly answered that breast milk is the only food a baby requires during the first six months, while less than 20% knew that caffeine consumption could provoke premature birth. More than half held the myth that drinking moghat and helba increases breast milk supply. Family and friends' advice was the most common source of knowledge. Older women with sufficient family income showed significantly higher knowledge scores.
