
The study aimed to determine the number of measurement days necessary for reliably assessing physical activity (PA) and sedentary time (SST) in adult patients with stable asthma. Participants wore a triaxial accelerometer for at least four days, with a minimum of 22.5 hours of wear time per day. Analysis of data from 452 patients (63% women; average age 49 years) revealed that PA could be reliably measured with four valid days (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient [ICC] 0.761), while SST required only three days (ICC 0.778). Seasonal influences were noted, with varying measurement days needed across seasons. Recommendations include measuring over four days, preferably with three weekdays and one weekend day. Asthma control and spirometric values did not affect reliability, indicating robust measurement protocols for managing asthma.
