A recent prospective observational study investigated drug therapy problems (DTP) in cardiovascular disease patients. Data from 222 hospitalized patients in Northern Ethiopia revealed that 52.7% experienced one or more DTP. The study identified 1.4 ± 0.7 DTP per patient, with additional drug therapy (32.4%) and ineffective drug therapy (14%) being most common. Notably, old age and a medication count of ≥5 were predictors of DTP. The findings underscore the need for heightened attention to high-risk patients to optimize cardiovascular disease drug therapy outcomes.
