Study Reveals Poor Oral Health and Limited Dental Care Utilization Among Marginalized Population in Copenhagen

A cross-sectional study delves into the oral-health-related quality-of-life (OHRQoL) and oral health-care habits of marginalized individuals in Copenhagen. Attending a specialized dental clinic, participants completed the OHIP-14 questionnaire on OHRQoL and a survey on oral health practices. Demographic data, including age, gender, smoking habits, and living conditions, were recorded. Results from 212 participants revealed limited dental clinic visits, with 72% not having visited in two years. Tooth brushing frequency was high (93%), but OHRQoL was notably impaired, especially in those needing general health or dental care. Addressing these issues underscores the imperative to integrate this population into comprehensive dental care systems.
