
A recent study on patients who underwent fractional flow reserve (FFR) assessment revealed that a significant number of adverse events occur in vessels not measured by FFR. The study evaluated the impact of these events on the perceived benefits of FFR. Using the inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW), researchers found that FFR-based treatment significantly reduced the hazard of target vessel failure (TVF) (HR: 0.56; 95% CI: 0.34–0.92). However, differences in non-target vessel failure (NTVF) and vessel-oriented composite endpoints (VOCEs) were not significant. This suggests that FFR-based treatment provides sustained benefits for target vessel-related events despite non-target vessel event dilution.
