The study explored the connection between tonsilloliths and dental plaque-related issues using digital panoramic radiographs. Findings suggested tonsilloliths may play an active role in eliminating foreign matter. The study, involving 608 patients with CT and panoramic radiographs, revealed a significant link between tonsilloliths detected on CT and bone defects caused by periodontitis on panoramic radiographs. This association was prominent in specific age groups (60 to 89 years old), indicating a dynamic response of tonsillolith structures in relation to the extent of periodontitis.
