A study conducted assessed the efficacy and safety of ustekinumab in unselected patients with Crohn's disease (CD), particularly those who had failed anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) agents. Out of 322 patients included, 84% had previously failed at least one anti-TNF drug, with 93% presenting active disease at baseline. The response rate at 3 and 12 months was 43% and 42%, respectively, with 64% achieving steroid-free remission at 12 months. Drug persistence on ustekinumab was high at 12 and 24 months, with 88% and 51% respectively. Ustekinumab demonstrated effectiveness and favorable safety outcomes in difficult-to-treat CD patients, with notable drug persistence over time.
