Study Unveils Factors Influencing ARI Care, Urges Addressing Key Predictors for Better Outcomes

Acute respiratory infections (ARIs) pose a substantial threat to children under five, causing significant mortality and morbidity. Seeking proper medical care can prevent a substantial portion of childhood deaths. Based on the 2016 Ethiopian Demographic and Health Surveys, this study investigates factors influencing mothers' healthcare-seeking behaviour for children under five with ARI symptoms. The analysis reveals a 32.61% healthcare-seeking rate in Ethiopia, with significant predictors including child age, maternal education, media exposure, female household head, and institutional delivery. Addressing these factors is crucial for enhancing treatment-seeking behaviours and reducing child morbidity and mortality.
