Study Unveils Respiratory Dysfunction in Unilateral Cervical Radiculopathy Patients

A recent study investigated the link between neck pain and respiratory issues, focusing on unilateral cervical radiculopathy (CR) patients. The study compared 25 CR patients with an asymptomatic group, evaluating diaphragmatic motion, breathing patterns, cervical range of motion, and kinesiophobia. Results indicated a significant reduction in diaphragmatic excursion on the side of radiculopathy in CR patients during normal and deep breathing. Additionally, CR patients exhibited altered breathing patterns and reduced cervical range of motion. This study highlights the need for comprehensive assessment and management of respiratory function in neck pain patients.
