Suction Tube Uterine Tamponade (STUT) was found to be less painful and potentially more effective than Uterine Balloon Tamponade (UBT) in treating refractory postpartum hemorrhage. In a randomized feasibility study with 59 participants, 30% of the STUT group faced the primary outcome (blood loss >1000mL, laparotomy, or death), compared to 52% in the UBT group. The STUT group also reported less severe pain, with most secondary outcomes favoring STUT.
