This study evaluated the clinical outcome of orthograde endodontic retreatment as a treatment option for failed apicectomy. The radiographs of 191 cases were evaluated, and success was rated according to established criteria. The study found an overall success rate of 84.82% (complete healing 79.06%, incomplete healing 5.76%), with a median survival of 86 months. None of the selected predictors had an influence on the treatment outcome. The study concludes that orthograde retreatment is a valuable treatment option for failed apicectomy, and surgical endodontic retreatment can still be an option if needed.
