Surgery‐ineligible elderly patients with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck region gain clinical benefit from definitive weekly hypofractionated radiotherapy

In a study evaluating the effectiveness of weekly hypofractionated radiotherapy (RT) for elderly patients with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck region (cHNSCC), positive outcomes were observed. The objective response rate (ORR) was 92.6%, with 70.4% of lesions showing a complete response and 22.2% showing a partial response. The median duration of response was 12 months, and no severe toxicity was reported. These findings establish weekly hypofractionated RT as a promising treatment option with satisfactory efficacy and tolerability for elderly cHNSCC patients.
